December 11th, 2020 is Christmas Jumper Day

On Friday 11th December, millions of people will be putting on a Christmas Jumper to raise money for Save the Children.

The day is the perfect excuse to get out a silly jumper and donate £2 to this great cause. This year more than ever, we all need a good smile and charities need our help. Plus, wearing a Christmas jumper is something everyone can do regardless of the COVID tier they live in. And you don’t need to go out and buy an expensive purpose made jumper either, why not just upcycle one of your old ones, make it as wacky and creative as you like. It’s also a great activity to do with the kids.

Who are Save the Children?

Save the Children was set up in the UK just after the First World War by sisters, Eglantyne Jebb and Dorothy Buxton. Over 100 years since it was first set up, Save the Children has helped millions of children across the world. The charity has provided education, healthcare and financial support as well as providing aid in war torn countries and natural disasters.

Today, across the world, the charity is made up of 29 national member organisations and operates in 120 different countries.

What You Can Do to Help?

Whether you’re working from home or socially distanced in the office, why not organise a, “wear your Christmas jumper to work day”? Not only will it bring a bit of festive cheer to the office (wherever that may be), but you’ll also be doing your bit to raise some much-needed cash for a worthy cause.

A suggested donation of £2 is recommended, don’t forget it’s for the kids, and you can request fundraising packs if you want to do a bit more. Just a small donation can help to change a child’s life and it’s a great excuse to stop being an adult for the day. Get rid of that rigid work suit and throw on a comfy jumper. This is what £2 could do:

  • Buy hand sanitiser to help fight coronavirus in a Save the Children clinic

But £10 could:

  • Provide antibiotics to help 5 children fight malnutrition

And £100 could:

  • Provide a first aid kit for a health worker in Somalia

It doesn’t matter how little you donate, it will be helping a great cause and helping to provide a better future for millions of children across the world. So, do something amazing and wear a Christmas jumper on Friday 11th December.
