Making an Dalgona Coffee

Love a cappuccino but looking for something a little different? The Dalgona is like a cappuccino but flipped on its head. Originating from Korea, this coffee has milk on the bottom and frothy coffee on top. You only need 3 (4 if you want it sweet) ingredients, so it’s simple to make and you can enjoy it hot or cold, the choice is yours.

You will need:

  • 2 tbsp of instant coffee or espresso powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp hot water
  • 400 ml of milk

How to:

  1. Add the sugar, coffee and hot water to a mixing bowl and using an electric whisk, whip the coffee mixture until it is light brown, fluffy and holds peaks when you remove the whisk (like meringue). Put to one side.
  2. Heat the milk, if you want a hot coffee, and divide between two glass mugs. Spoon the frothed coffee mixture on top of the milk and smooth off with a spoon.
  3. Enjoy!

You can make this a little more grown-up by adding a couple of teaspoons of coffee liqueur into the coffee mix or a little Baileys.
