Ghoulish Beef Goulash

A terrific stew for a cold night, particularly a night like Halloween! When you have finished trick or treating, bring the children home and give them a delicious bowl of this goulash – the smoked paprika and tomatoes give the soup a ‘bloody’ colour, just right for Halloween. Serve with some crusty bread.

Pineapple and Lemon ‘Fizz’

One of the most glorious and aromatic herbs you can grow in your garden or buy from supermarkets and garden centres is Lemon Verbena. The difference it makes to an infused water or juice is quite incredible in terms of flavour and smell. Coupled with pineapple, it really is refreshing. If you want it REALLY lemony with a bit of spice, add a small piece of lemongrass.

Healthy Fruit Salad

Nothing better than a fresh fruit salad – and even though it contains sugars, they are natural sugars, which are not so harmful. You can vary the fruits with your favourites – berries are extremely good for you, but be careful if you are a melon fan, as this contains a higher amount of sugar – it is hydrating though!
